With the days getting colder as we make our way through the fall, we’re back with another breakdown to help you pick the best vest for you.

In part one, we talked about the differences between the Classic and Quilted vest — in this edition, we’re seeing how the Women's Down Vest matches up in comparison to the Classic and Lightweight Down, to help you decide which gear is your best bet for staying warm during the colder months.

First, here are some things they both have in common:

  • 4 carbon fiber heating elements generate heat across your body. The heated collar on these vests is a customer favorite!
  • Three adjustable heat settings (high, medium, low) with just a simple press of a button
  • Up to 10 working hours (3 hours on high, 6 hours on medium, 10 hours on low heat)
  • Heats in seconds with our 7.2V UL/CE-certified battery. Now they both come with the Mini 5k battery upgrade option!
  • Keeps your hands warm with our dual pocket heating zones

We know it’s not easy to pick a favorite, so let us do that for you. Here are some questions to ask when choosing, with a breakdown of the differences from style to practicality to fit and more.

Lightweight vs Bulk

If you’re looking for something lightweight to wear tailgating, walking the dog, or running errands on a chilly fall day the Classic Vest or the Quilted Vest is your go-to. Wear it over your favorite long sleeve thermal shirt for a cozy fall look. The FELLEX® Insulation is perfect for keeping you warm on a chilly day.

Lightweight Down Vest

If you’re looking for something with a little more bulk, opt for the Down Vest. The fill is 90% Down, 10% Feather which makes for a warmer and sturdier feel. The down fill provides extra insulation so you can stay warm even in extreme cold conditions. This down vest feels more like a secure blanket compared to the Classic Vest.

Like the down insulation but also want something lightweight? Check out the Lightweight Down Vest collection.

Slim Fit vs Traditional Fit

This is where comfort and style meet: deciding on the fit. If you’re looking for a closer, silhouette style then the Down Vest is the way to go thanks to the cinched look of the waist. Need something with a looser fit, while still being flattering? The Classic Vest and Lightweight Down Vest’s lax looks are more your speed.

Detachable Hood & Water-Resistant

detachable hood

If you live somewhere with a rainy season or experience extreme winds, then the Down is the best vest for the situation. The close fit design, detachable hood and durable water-resistant (DWR) finish make for extra protection from wind and rain.

Materials

Both nylon and polyester are highly rated for strength and durability. The outer shell of the Down Vest is 100% polyester while the Classic is 100% nylon. Nylon is known to be stretchier than polyester, so if you’re looking for something a little roomier with stretch, the Classic is the best option.

RDS-certified down

We only use RDS-certified down in our down vests and jackets. RDS(Responsible Down Standard) means the down is harvested in a safe, gentle manner.

If you’re looking for lightweight and super warm, the Lightweight Down Vest is a good choice. The 800 fill power RDS-certified down and impeccable warmth-to-weight ratio and is also the most lightweight heated down vest in the market. It’s perfect for either wearing alone or layering with your outer jacket.

Bundled up or Chill

If you like the super snug, bundled up look then the Down Vest definitely wins in that department. For something more relaxed, the Classic gives the vibe you’re going for.

Additional Colors

If you want something simple, the Down Vest comes in black for a warm yet lowkey look.
